Hi, I’m Melissa! I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy here at Freya Wellness, and I’m so excited to be part of your journey.
I graduated from the University of Miami with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (go canes!) and it was there that initially ignited my passion for women’s health. Early on, I noticed the gap in education and support for women especially during pregnancy and postpartum. I knew I wanted to help change that.
During my clinical rotations, I realized just how rare it was to see pregnant women in gym settings and noticed how little guidance many women receive on safe, effective exercise before and after giving birth. Additionally, pelvic health concerns such as incontinence, prolapse, or pain with intercourse were barely talked about in school despite how disruptive they can be in daily life. That’s why my mission is to bridge this gap helping women feel informed, supported, and confident in their bodies at every stage of life.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of settings from Neurological rehabilitation to acute care and now in orthopedic and pelvic health clinics. While in the hospital setting, I dove into continuing education in pelvic health and quickly realized this is where my true passion belongs, which led me to dedicate my career to it.
Outside the clinic, I bring 10 years of weightlifting experience (including two years as a fitness coach) and I’m currently working toward my Comprehensive Pilates Certification through Polestar Pilates (ETA Sept 2025). I am a passionate mover with a goal of blending strength training, Pilates, and evidence based pelvic health physical therapy to create personalized programs that help you feel strong, empowered, and deeply connected to your pelvic floor so you can truly feel your best, inside and out :)
